ELP's music hasn't worn well to put it mildly but I still play the Nice, nice jazz feel to some of their stuff and the drummer doesn't play everything at 200 mph.

Saw Nice a few times around London. They played the Marquee quite regularly. Keith Emerson was incredible . Loved "Rondo 69 and Nutrocker. Never keen on ELP.
R.I.P. Keith keep throwing those knives into the Hammond and visiting Azrael.

It's always sad when someone gets to a point where they feel the need to take their own life. He should be enjoying his golden years and reflecting on his life, not killing himself. Sad.

First saw The Nice as P P Arnold's backing band at a festival and then saw them play at lots of colleges around London with their own interpretaions of some great classical pieces. BBC site says he died of self-inflicted gunshot wound

First time I saw ELP was at my college - Walthamstow that is - in the days when student unions booked big name bands. I think it was 1970 not long after they'd formed.
Must have seen them at least another five or six times.
At the time I thought they were great, but now I wouldn't give 'em house room. Probably haven't played an album of theirs for more than 40 years.
Anyway, RIP Keith. How did he go? Did he electrocute himself sticking a dagger into his Hammond?
